Who We Are

Kansas City Action for Animals is a fluid, leaderless group of social justice activists located in and around Kansas City. We work to improve the lives of all animals in our community through a focused effort on local campaigns, outreach, and community building.

Current Campaign

Kansas City Action for Animals is currently engaged in a campaign to transition a captive Capuchin monkey named Frankie into sanctuary life. He lives inside of a pet store, where he has spent the last 18 years of his life alone in a small cage.

After consulting with several Capuchin experts and monkey behaviorists and briefing them on Frankie’s current status and living conditions, we received unanimous agreement on the potential for enhancing his well-being through rehabilitation in a specialized sanctuary environment. Sanctuaries offer expansive, naturalistic habitats and tailored care that can fulfill Frankie's physical, social, and emotional needs far beyond what captivity can provide.

A sanctuary in Texas has offered to give Frankie a home for the remainder of his life.

Dominion uses drones, hidden and handheld cameras to expose the dark underbelly of modern animal agriculture, questioning the morality and validity of humankind’s dominion over the animal kingdom. While mainly focusing on animals used for food, it also explores other ways animals are exploited and abused by humans, including clothing, entertainment and research.
